International Musicians of Peace: "Por Estos Pies Que Aun Caminaran Mucho"

In January of 1998 a benefit performance was held for the refugee children surviving the brutal paramilitary massacre of December 27 1997 in Acteal. The event was powerful, and the artists involved decided to continue using their art to raise awareness about the human rights violations in the highlands of Chiapas and to raise funds for the refugee children.

This album brought together musicians from Guatamala, Nigeria, Israel, England, The United States, Denmark, Spain, Holland, Argentina and Mexico. The entire album was completed in five tireless sessions and almost all the pieces were recorded in one take, preserving the live feel and the high energy of the group. Some of the pieces were not even rehearsed, but we hope that the special atmosphere in which they were recoreded will come across in the music.

Proceeds from the sales of this recording are allocated directly towards the childrens projects in the communities in Chiapas.
