“Guy
Mendilow has offered several kinds of enrichment programs at many Massachusetts
centers over the past few years. Guy has the ability to make an impact,
whether it be during a one-time visit where he brings awe and excitement
to the children or a regularly scheduled program where each week the children
are introduced to a new instrument, a new language or a new concept. I’ve
had the pleasure of seeing Guy perform and like the children, have been
inspired and intrigued by what he has to share both musically and culturally.” -Mary Schofield, Manager of Enrichment Programs, Bright Horizons
Family Solutions World Headquarters, Watertown MA
"There's
nothing that engages kids as much as showing your interest in them: that
doesn't happen as a general rule. It's a rare person who demonstrates
a willingness to learn from very small children. They have an energy that's
hard to harness. Guy's commitment to [his programs] grows out of a deep
respect for the abilities, potential, and rights of kids" — Montessori Corner, Plainsboro NJ
“We
were fascinated by Guy’s ability and talent. His stories and songs
were captivating. We were amazed that he kept the attention of our class
for so long, a difficult – almost impossible – task with such
active children. We were especially impressed with the history and sounds
of the berimbau.” — Linden School, Elyria OH
"The
children all worked together to create a musical piece and realized
the importance of each individual person's part and how well it works
when you put everyone's part together to get a final result." — Diamond Child, Avon
OH
“The
interaction with the children was excellent and Guy held their attention.
The children and the teachers enjoyed the program which was very unique.
I will definitely have Guy back.” — Judy Basch, Jewish Community Center, Ewing NJ
"The
program was very helpful for the children's self-esteem. The children
that were conductors felt very powerful and some of them were actually
very shy people. The program also helped with cooperation. The children
learned that even a peer can be in charge and if everyone cooperates
everyone has a good time." —Oberlin Early Childhood Center,
Oberlin OH
"Guy
has an instinct for working with this age that is rare among artists.
My three-year-old son was new to the preschool classroom the summer
when Guy was the artist in resdeince. He had never talked about school
before; then one day he began telling us things about Guy: "Guy
has a ponytail" (Ethan wanted one too), that he played a guitar.
He had obviously made a huge impression. SO I cam in and observed one
day to see what the excitement was about. Subsequently I have engaged
Guy for a series of one-on-one "lessons" with Ethan. As a
teacher, Guy is gentle but playful, good at focusing energy, flexible
and knowing when to change directions. In settings where there is a
tendency to try to regiment and control children, he is able to turn
excitement to positive ends, providing discipline and structure. He
is also able to genuinely share his love of music." — Parent, Oberlin OH
"Guy
was an example of how one can be centered and expressive at once he
was respectful and certainly knew his subject area with expertise"— Montessori Teacher,
New Jersey Montessori Administrator's Council, Parsippany NJ
"The
children have been singing Pura Samine while they're working all week.
We loved the program and would like to work more with Guy." — Vermillion YMCA, Vermillion
